WHO ARE WE?

Here is our story

(VHD - Veteran Handball Player's Association) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization founded in 2019 and based in Eskisehir, Türkiye. The association brings together former handball players, coaches, referees, sports managers, and handball enthusiasts who share a lifelong connection with the sport.

VHD believes that handball is more than a competitive sport. It is a powerful social tool that connects generations, promotes healthy lifestyles, and strengthens social cohesion. The association works with a strong volunteer-based structure and is independently; guided by transparency, solidarity, and social responsibility.

Handball is our game.

Handball is fun.

It is struggle. It is passion. It is determination. It is love. It is joy. It is sorrow. It is winning and losing.

In short, handball is like life.

And like life, it must be protected, embraced, developed, and grown.

The primary force that will embrace, develop, and grow handball is the people who have played it, loved it, and lived it.

That means us—the former players, coaches, referees, administrators, and supporters.

People devoted to handball…

We will stand by our children and young people. We will stand by the companions with whom we share and live this passion.

In short, we will honor and protect the past, the present, and the future.

We will serve the country and society we love—not only through handball, but in every area where our hands can reach and our strength can make a difference.

For our future, our hope, our light—our beloved children and young people—we will continue to strive.

For them, we will be health.

For them, we will be education.

For them, we will be sport.

For them, we will be books.

For them, we will be trees.

One day, you will see us in a sports hall; another day, in a school.

One day, you will see us in a library we have established; another day, in a forest where we have planted saplings.

One day, you will see us beside our children; another day, beside our elders.

For them, we will be light, hope, and love.

For the friends with whom we share this passion, we will be true companions.

We will be the light in their eyes, the smile on their lips, and the warmth of an outstretched hand.

We will do all of this with great love, dedication, and selflessness.

We will never become the voice, eyes, ears, mind, or instrument of any person or institution.

We will work entirely on a voluntary basis, with devotion and transparency.

We will never pursue personal gain, nor tolerate those who do.

We will not say "I"; we will say "we."

We will not be one; we will be a thousand.

We will be a bridge from the past to the future.

MISSION & VISION

Small changes make a big difference.

Our mission is: To act as a bridge between past and future by preserving the values of handball, sharing experience across generations, and transforming sport into a tool for social benefit.

Our vision: To become an inclusive and sustainable community where everyone who has ever connected with handball comes together under a strong sense of "we".

In line with this understanding, our association:

• Organizes sporting events and tournaments that support the active lives of veteran handball players,

• Carries out social responsibility projects for disabled individuals and disadvantaged groups.
